About Us

Me and my boys

When I originally wrote this “short” bio, it ended up being two pages long…and then I realized no one really needed to know what I was like in high school, how my husband and I met, how we ended up having 3 boys under 3, etc. So here’s the shortened version:

I am a lover of the arts, crazy to some but loved by many. I consider myself to be very independent but still need a shoulder to cry on at times…intelligent but still ask questions when in doubt.  I love my boys with all of my heart and feel very blessed that I have found my soul mate to spend my life with. I am a former dance instructor, waitress, medical transcriptionist…and now MOM and indie design entrepreneur (yep…just came up with that title all by myself) =)

Three years of running my online mommyshop, learning the ins and outs of selling online, wasting money on advertising only to learn it got nowhere…and finally launching my very own website, I now have decided that I want to do more…take what I have learned over the years and help others who love making handmade items to be able to turn that hobby into a business.

Please browse the artisan shops and read their stories about how they got started. And…who knows, maybe you will find some inspiration and delve into the arts, and when you do, I am here to help you! =)

Update: LocalCarolinaArt.com

I just wanted to take a minute and update everyone about my “side project” that has quickly turned into something much larger—>Logo 4

At the end of last year, with my favorite local artisan shop closing it’s doors, I realized there was a need out there to help artists and crafters sell their items.  I was in the process of creating this website and through the months of research, I thought I knew the ins and outs a pretty good bit to throw my two cents in and try to assist.  I then came up with the idea of, instead of attempting to run a storefront (with overhead costs grueling), why not sell these items online in an artisan marketplace? I tried for months to figure out how I was going to go about doing this and what the most cost-effective way to go about this would be.  I even thought about attempting to create and design the website myself, but soon realized, though I was able to manage putting this website together (which to a professional is pretty standard, but to me, was pretty technical)…I could not take on a project such as this.  So, I began researching yet again and finally got in touch with a website design company that was super friendly and affordable…offering design, management, SEO enhancement, logo design, E-commerce…the works! :) Of course, I jumped on the idea and got the ball rolling.

This was two weeks ago. Today, two short weeks later, while we are still waiting for the framework of the website to be completed, we have a logo, have been featured on WPDE News Channel 15 (Peedee/Grand Strand) last week, being featured this Friday at 10 am on Channel 7/Your Carolina with Jack and Kimberly (Upstate/Greenville), currently getting a video designed by WISTV and have a wide variety of great artists and crafters who have already signed up…things are moving FAST!
